Huntsville, Alabama is home to the World's Longest-Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival. This multi-day event is 100% volunteer run and raises funds for the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization devoted to the integration of music with learning.

Friday, May 30 at AVIQ, the South's Premier Audio-Video Equipment Destination

Kick off our 21st year with a Casino Night featuring music from The Cigar Box Serenaders of New Orleans. Tickets available soon. 100% of the proceeds go to charity.

Saturday, June 1 at Lowe Mill A&E

Join us indoors at the largest privately-owned artists' community in the U.S., home to The Cigar Box Guitar Store, the only brick-and-mortar CBG store in the world. Lowe Mill's 150+ studios, shops, restaurants and more will offer specials and discounts throughout the day as the Festival hosts seminars/workshops for CBG music fans and builders, plus buskers & music meet-ups. All activities are free and will be held indoors. 

 

In the evening, there will be a swing dance concert with April Mae and The June Bugs indoors at the Saturn Jive Dance Studio. Tickets available soon. 100% of the proceeds go to charity.

Sunday, June 1 on the grounds of The Orion Amphitheater

During the day, there will be family-friend activities and music, as well as buskers and music meet-ups for CBG builders and fans. A wide array of vendors, including Huntsville's own Vinyl Record Trail, will be on site, as well as an array of food trucks. All activities are free and will be held under cover in the event of inclement weather.

The Sunday Finale concert will feature Grammy winner Gary Nichols as the frontman, backed by The FAME Gang, a group of session musicians from Fame Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals. This group will play two sets and will bring in numerous special guest musicians who will also play cigar box guitar. The FAME Gang’s top-notch musicians will include Kelvin Holly, who toured with Little Richard and has recorded Percy Sledge, Huey Lewis, Neil Young and Demi Lovato, just to name a few; Jimbo Hart, former bassist with Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit and drummer Justin Holder whose credits range from John Paul White to Keb Mo to Dwight Yokum. The Finale Concert will be held under cover of in the weather-protected and acoustically phenomenal Orion Dome. Tickets available soon. 100% of the proceeds go to charity.
